Giant's Head Mountain Park
The extinct volcano that is Giant’s Head Mountain Park towers over Summerland from about 2,500 feet above sea-level. It may not be alive like Summerland Ornamental Gardens or the history lesson of Summerland Museum, but the park does have many points of interest. One of two trails may be hiked to the park’s peak on which sits a time capsule frozen in 1967: not to be opened until the year 2067. Stunning views of the Naramata Bench, Prairie Valley and other landmarks make the climb atop Giant's Head Mountain Park a worthwhile one. A picnic area and washroom facility allows hikers to take a break before making the descent back into the Valley.
