John Moore Robinson
James Moore sowed the seeds of what today has blossomed into the Bottleneck Drive wine route and an alley of fruit stands that line Highway 97 in Summerland. Today’s wineries and working farms owe much to Moore's work in the late 19th and early 20th centuries: enticing farmers to Summerland and driving efforts to establish a suitable irrigation system. The legacy of Summerland’s founder is an important reason why, today, wineries may flourish near Giant's Head Mountain Park. Whether it’s a syrup sold at the store, fruit plucked from an orchard vine or icewine concocted at a winery, the fruits of Summerland’s labours have blossomed thanks in large part to James Moore.
